Gululu

Located in Bugibba, Gululu is a restaurant that serves a homely palate, which will take the local guests on a nostalgic journey and offer the foreign ones a true taste of various Maltese flavours and culinary tradition. 

The design is a reinterpretation of different elements from Maltese culture. The colours used are influenced by the original Maltese balconies which can be found in typical traditional villages. The pattern tiles used at the entrance are a reminiscent of the original Maltese tiles that were popularly used in the '70s and ‘80s in townhouses. Similarly with the details in the bespoke furniture, and the style of the soft furnishings. The natural stone flooring is a nod to Malta’s most popular natural rock, the limestone, which can be seen all over the local. The selection of lighting is a mix of modern dome lighting, which were handmade in clay and add an element of craftsmanship, combined with more vintage retro style lighting. 

All these elements were transformed to create a modern restaurant which has a sentimental feel while creating an ambience that is warm and welcoming.
