Fabbrica del Grano was born between Agrigento (Sicily)and Milan (in the historic area of Brera).
The native ancient grains, that coming from Agrigento, feed the work in the Milan Laboratory equipped with a small mill with stone grinder and pasta extruder.
The handmade products (fresh pasta, bread and baked goods) can be purchased at retail, but also from the menu, to be enjoyed in the restaurant next to the lab.
The interiors are built around the message we wanted to convey: HEALTHY, HANDMADE, GENUINE ingredients, and this story is told everywhere.
The room has been freed from all plasterboard walls and left unfinished, with exposed ceiling and electrical, rough concrete details and original red brick walls. The flooring is an imitation of industrial oak wood and the walls are decorated with elements that evoke rural environments. The industrial wall lights are from the Spanish company Faro.
On the walls the history and process of making pasta is explained, thanks to the reuse of tools that the customer had at home, such as: sieves, cutting boards and old farming tools.
Raw black metal and real wood planks, are the main materials used in this concept: tables, main counter and the grate separating the staircase area, where we left the original majolica wall on the background.
The laboratory, positioned in the front window, attracts passers-by, who can stop and observe the making of fresh pasta.
The gem of the place is certainly the ears of ancient grains, placed upside down and hanging from the ceiling, which create a scenographic setting, enlarged by a wall mirror that gives depth to the room.
Overall the atmosphere is authentic and welcoming, like entering in an old sicilian barn.
