A sense of nostalgia
Capturing a throwback scent of a Mediterranean summer back in the 80’s. A collaboration between Stephen Cordina & DAAA Haus.
1983 Mediterranean Summer
The journey of 1983 Mediterranean Summer commenced by sheer coincidence when Keith Pillow, the visionary founder and creative director of DAAA Haus, was introduced to the aromatherapist, cosmetologist, and perfumer, Stephen Cordina.
During this fateful encounter, Cordina, who is a creator and manufacturer of fine, natural home fragrances, bathroom and cosmetic products, spoke about the artistry behind his fragrance creation. For Pillow, whose canvas is usually architectural spaces, the intricate and creative process was an intriguing revelation. He envisioned spaces not only as visual spectacles but as multisensory experiences.
Driven by a shared passion for creation, Pillow and Cordina embarked on a journey of collaboration.
Inspired by Keith’s romantic nature and his desire to evoke cherished memories, they set out to craft a scent that would weave together the essence of childhood bliss. With a melody of red fruits, oranges, mint, peaches, and the creamy sweetness of vanilla ice cream, they began their aromatic symphony.
Cordina started experimenting and testing and Pillow was exploring and sampling until one day the flame of the perfected scented candle flickered. Specifically, it was the flame of the 1983 Mediterranean Summer limited edition scented candle by DAAA Haus.
A candle that not only lights up a space and fills it with a pleasant scent, but also a candle that as it melts produces a beautifully smooth and creamy hand balm. An element that is very much in line with Keith Pillow’s commitment to regenerating, reusing and repurposing spaces and materials seeking to minimize waste and maximize the potential of every element.
This collaboration is not just about creating a candle; it is about capturing the essence of emotion, of memories woven into the very fabric of scent. And in that shared vision, Keith Pillow and Stephen Cordina found not only creative synergy but a bond that transcended the boundaries of artistry.
