Tokyo Club
Situated in the heart of paceville, Tokyo is a nightclub that represents the rush, fun & naughty side of Tokyo.
By using different materials, wall finishes, lighting, artworks and moods, the idea was to create different zones in the night club that will blend into each other.
Our idea was to create a similar experience that one might have when walking through the busy streets of Tokyo, doing this through the use of materials, lighting and artworks chosen. We decided to target 4 different vibes of Tokyo which we felt were quite similar to those found in paceville. Tokyo underground, playful Tokyo, downtown Tokyo, Tokyo culture.
The main colours selected for the nightclub were specifically chosen to represent the nightlife in Tokyo. We focused on using red, blue and black. These colours can be seen in elements such as lighting, metal structures, artworks and bar units.
The use of led strip lights, neon signs, moving heads,light boxes with text and tube lights helped bring out different moods within the club. Gaming stations found at the back area of the club added an arcade element to the space, something that is synonymous with Tokyo.
The lighting was then enhanced through the use of the materials selected. We opted to go for mirrors (both wall mounted and ceiling mounted), corrugated metal sheets, perspex, diamond plate metal sheet & a garage shutter with integrated led strip lighting and mirrors. All the materials above added an extra depth to the club, due to the reflections that were created.
Neon signs with text/logos related to Tokyo added an element of fun to the nightclub. The custom made wallpapers found around the club added an element of storytelling & nostalgia for those that used to play old japanese video games or for those that used to watch typical japanese cartoons/shows. Along with wallpapers, graffiti pieces consisting of well known japanese cartoon characters were added to both bar fronts.
