For this project, we aimed to capture the essence of Japanese design principles, emphasizing simplicity, natural materials, and craftsmanship. The result is a serene and inviting space that reflects the beauty of Japanese aesthetics. Which is in great contrast with the site’s location.

The interior features a minimalist design with clean lines and a focus on natural light As some areas never see any natural light, we tried to enhance it by creating an artificial courtyard effect with added greenery to create additional depth and sense of serenity.

The use of wood, stone, and frosted glass (to mimic Japanese paper partitions) elements creates a sense of harmony and tranquility. The craftsmanship is evident in the intricate details of the woodwork, such as the shoji screens and the tatami mats. The overall effect is one of understated elegance and serenity.

Simplicity: Japanese design is characterized by its simplicity and focus on essential elements. This is reflected in the clean lines and minimalist furniture used in this project. In addition to that, smooth curves were added into specific areas to create additional flow to the internal architecture features. Mankind's small tight spaces are more fluid.

Natural materials: Japanese design often incorporates natural materials such as wood, stone, and paper. These materials create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Craftsmanship: Japanese craftsmanship is renowned for its attention to detail and high quality. This is evident in the intricate woodwork and other details in this project.

Harmony with nature: Japanese design often seeks to create a sense of harmony with nature. This is achieved through the use of natural materials and the incorporation of natural light.
